Today’s question: What do the biggest online businesses have in common?
They use other people’s data for the content.
Look at Amazon.com the reviews, the product pictures, the product descriptions. Almost all are from sources besides themselves. Look at Google. They scrape data from everywhere to display to their users. Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, you name it. The biggest sites, are all either getting user submitted content or using other people’s data.
So my interest is piqued when I see websites for sale that have found a way to capture content from their viewers and users. You might be surprised at the variety of sites that employ this technique. It is not just limited to social media. Consider sites where users upload graphics or designs, forum sites, classified ad sites, photography sites and writing sites just to name a few. Take not of sites that offer tools where users can create content that is then published to the site, especially when the content includes text which is loved by search engines.
